RK MAHENDRAN

Partner, Investment Team, Technology & Software Lead

RK Mahendran is a Partner and member of the Investment Committee at HMI. Since joining HMI in 2014, RK has led the firm's efforts in the technology & software sector. Prior to joining the firm, RK was an Associate at Thomas H. Lee Partners, a Boston-based private equity fund, where he focused on investments in the software, information services, and media sectors. Prior to THL, RK was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, where he focused on the oil and gas sector.

From June 2021 until the company was taken private in November 2023, RK served as a member of the Board of Directors for New Relic (NYSE: NEWR). He also previously served on the Board of the San Francisco Education Fund, a non-profit focused on supporting students and educators across San Francisco public schools.

RK earned a B.B.A. in Finance with Honors from The University of Texas at Austin. An avid traveler, RK is working towards visiting all seven continents. Originally from Dubai (United Arab Emirates), RK now lives in San Francisco with his family.
